Drake – ‘Views’ Album [REVIEW]

Nearly 2 weeks ago, Drake released one of the most highly anticipated albums. I, like many other of his listeners, had been waiting on the album for close to 2 years, but unfortunately, the album left more than a few fans with a “meh” reaction.

The production is average at best and Drake sticks to his guns, rapping and crooning about love affairs that didn’t work out in his favor and rekindled romances. All in all, the album shows little creative progression. As Joe Budden said on his podcast last week, it’s “Take Care done badly.”

Upon first listen, the album did very much remind me of his 2011 album, Take Care. On his previous release, Drizzy turned Juvenile‘s beloved twerk anthem “Back That Azz Up” into a love ballad. This time around, he flipped DMX‘s “How’s It Goin Down” for “U With Me?”

The Pimp C vocals add a nice touch to “Faithful” and Views features contributions from Rihanna, PARTYNEXTDOOR and dvsn.

Views isn’t my favorite Drake album, but it has a few songs to vibe out to if you’re willing to pick through it.

If you haven’t already, check out the album on Apple Music. I’m not sure when it’ll be available on Spotify.
